What Travel Scout does

Travel Scout helps you check a journey for likely issues, such as roadworks, closures, congestion, and disruption, by querying third-party traffic and incident services.

Data we collect

Travel Scout is built to collect as little as possible.

Depending on how you use the app, we may process:

• Route inputs you provide, such as start and end locations or postcodes.
• Device and network information needed to make requests, such as standard internet traffic handled by your network/provider and third-party services.
• Approximate location only if you choose to use location-based features, if enabled in the app.

We do not collect:

• Contacts, photos, or messages.
• Payment card details, which are handled by Google Play if you subscribe or buy.
• Advertising identifiers for ad targeting. We do not run ads.

How we use data

We use the data only to:

• Calculate a route and check for incidents affecting that route.
• Display results to you inside the app.
• Improve reliability and prevent abuse, such as rate limiting.

Third-party services

To provide traffic and incident checking, Travel Scout may call third-party APIs. These services may process the request and return incident data.

• TomTom, for traffic, incidents, and routing where applicable.
• HERE, for traffic and incidents where applicable.
• National Highways, for planned and unplanned roadworks or closure feeds.

These providers have their own privacy policies and terms.

Data sharing

We do not sell your data.

We share data only when required to deliver the service, such as sending your route query to the providers listed above so they can return traffic or incident results.

Data retention

Travel Scout is designed so that route inputs are used temporarily to perform a check.

If diagnostics or telemetry are collected, they are minimised and anonymised where possible, for example by using route outward codes rather than full postcodes. This information is used for debugging and improving reliability and is retained only as long as needed for that purpose.

Security

We use standard security practices, including encrypted connections using HTTPS to third-party services where supported.

Your choices

• You can choose not to enable location access, if offered.
• You can uninstall the app at any time.
• If app data is stored locally on your device, such as preferences, you can clear it via Android app settings.

Children’s privacy

Travel Scout is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
